Description
19th Century Military Fire Bucket
An excellent example of a leather 'fire bucket', in excellent original condition, but with the rare addition of being marked for military use.
It was possibly naval, used to sponge out the canon/firing bores before reload. This is conjecture of course, but irrespective of its true use, it was most certainly manufactured for and used by British armed forces.
Excellent condition. The leather handle has lost two connecting bolts at some point in its past, and these have been replaced with brand new bolts, which can be seen when inspecting handle.
