Description

Antique 18th century circa 1785-1790 ceramic cup and saucer by Caughley in the Island Sampan pattern. Painted in underglaze blue with a landscape scene featuring large trees overlooking a house, a smaller island with buildings beyond, with associated line and crosshatch border. The cup with an incised 'X' mark, the saucer unmarked. An attached sticker shows that this cup and saucer are from the C.R. Pilkington Collection, and it was exhibited at the Coalport China Works Museum Bicentenary Exhibition in 1999. Stock Code: 3821.
