Description

Original Late 19th Century English Pottery Large Charger Plate or Dish with a Beautiful Sgraffito Design of Leaves and Berries and with an Aztec Design to the Edge. A Central Bowl with a Sun or Star type Decoration. On the reverse is the mark for Carlo Manzoni, who studied in Turin as a sculptor, but then toured Europe and the US, then settled in London. In 1893 he joined 'Della Robbia' and then moved to Birkenhead in 1894, then started his own pottery in Hanley.
