With the Industrial revolution and increased transport opportunities working class people were able to travel. Holiday resorts became popular destinations and the idea of buying a souvenir ie crested ware with the name and crest of the resort became popular. 19th century and early 20th century crested ware was thought to be in 90% of all homes.
