Dominating Washington’s skyline is the towering Washington Monument, completed in 1884. The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day, 1922. The Capitol, appropriately, lies on the same axis as these two memorials, one dedicated to the founder of the Nation and the other to it’s savior.
