Description
‘The Lord is at Hand’ Victorian Needlework Motto, made using the punch-paper / perforated technique.
The biblical phrase "The Lord is at Hand" (Philippians 4:5) is worked in a complex Gothic-style script. The large, elaborate "L" and "H" feature intricate vine-like scrollwork, which was a favourite design during the Victorian era.
Housed in its original "Oxford" frame. These distinctive frames, with their crossed-corner joints and dark-stained wood, were the standard choice for religious mottos and samplers during this period.
