After Pierre-Jules MÈNE (1810-1879) French, A bronze sculpture of a young stag, dark brown patina, finely cast and chiseled, signed in the cast PJ MENE. Pierre-Jules Mene was a French sculptor born on March 25, 1810, in Paris. He found his calling in the world of animalier sculpture, a genre that focuses on the depiction of animals. Mene's work was characterized by his remarkable attention to detail, his ability to capture the essence of his subjects, and his mastery of bronze as a medium. His sculptures often portrayed domestic and wild animals, including horses, dogs, birds, and game animals.
