Description
Sheffield made antique cleaver or hog splitter with wood turned handle, made by Thomas Turner, (Date unknown). The factory was founded in Sheffield, England, in 1802, and based at the Suffolk Works on Suffolk Street. One of the many cutlers that have contributed to Sheffield's reputation as a centre for the quality manufacturing of cutlery.

Granted the mark of ENCORE in 1805
Went bankrupt in 1932 and was taken over by Viners.
