Description
A fine complete set of 52 antique Georgian playing cards. They were made in London by Hunt & Sons in about 1830. They operated from 1820 to 1849, and were the first company to modernize the design of the court cards. This is a stencil coloured wood engraved set of French suits with single figure HB1 court cards, complete with a SUPERFINE stamp on the ace of clubs, and with a rare Old Frizzle ace of spades, this denotes that a duty of one shilling was paid on the cards as the goverment had introduced tax on playing cards. Each card with square corners and a plain white back. Dealer Code: 3352.
