Description
A highly decorative antique edition of the Holy Bible Illustrations References And Maps By Rev. John Eadie with the commentaries of Scott and Henry. & published by Peter Black of Manchester circa 1880s. Undated edition with numerous colour and black and white illustration plates, as well as a beautifully decorated antique family register which has been filled in. Bound in a dark brown leather, with decorative blind stamp design, gilt lettering and accents to boards and spine. Full gilt page edges, brass corner edging to boards and matching brass clasp which gives this volume its Victorian gothic appeal. Within this beautiful edition are wonderfully illustrated plates with their protective tissue. The pages are largely bright with some foxing around some pages and handling marks within. Internal binding is holding well and the book is in overall good condition for a large antique bible. Some scratch/denting markings to leather binding on boards. Minimal wear to page edges.
