Description

Original Late 19th Century English Pottery Vase with a Beautiful Sgraffito Floral Design and with an Aztec Design to the Edge in lovely Blues and Greens. On the base is the mark for Carlo Manzoni, who studied in Turin as a sculptor, but then toured Europe and the US, then settled in London. In 1893 he joined 'Della Robbia' and then moved to Birkenhead in 1894, then started his own pottery in Hanley. He came back to the Della Robbia pottery in 1898 and stayed there until it's closure in 1906. Slight flaking to rim, minimal (see photos). A very interesting and rare piece. Circa late 1800s.
