"Judith Gilmour was born in Edinburgh and studied at Glasgow School of Art. Her work is in a number of prestigious public collections including the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery in Glasgow, Aberdeen Art Gallery, the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh - as well as a number of international and private collections in Britain, the USA, and Japan. She was a regular exhibitor at the Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow.
Her ceramics are made in an elegant oriental-style which are decorated by using a layer of slip which is overpainted with dray glazes and oxides. She uses a very restrained colour palette using whites, sand and grey tones - with warm rust and brown oxides."
