Description
Original 1930s Studio Pottery Plate hand made by master potter Michael Cardew at the Winchcombe Pottery in Gloucestershire. Stunning hand painted detailing with brown swirls and criss-cross decor over green panels. Michael Cardew was one of the most respected and influential potters of the 20th Century, and here is a chance to own one of his works of art. Bernard Leach did say that Cardew was his best pupil, and he was described as 'one of the finest potters of the century'. Good condition, some wear and some nibbles to the rim. Michael Cardew personal seal and the Winchcombe Pottery seal. Superb.
