Description
The French Bronze Vases are beautifully shaped upon flared slate plinth bases with tapered oval bodies and a large trumpet mouth rim finished with gilt accents. Each decorated with Aesthetic Movement influences having strapped handles with shaped accents. The body of each vase is decorated with large Kenaf leaves and flower buds surrounded by insects. The foot of the vase is finished with a banding of matching decoration with alternating foliage and insects. The vases are very much in the manner of Ferdinand Barbedienne and date to the Aesthetic Movement era (c.1868-1900) and the late 19th century. Circa 1880.
