Description

A collection of approximately 1000 rare glass slides stored in an original Flatters and Garnett mahogany cabinet. With 12 individual pull-out drawers each with brass handles and brass fittings for indexation cards.
The slides are 3.25 inches (8.26 cm) square with illustrations and photographs of the natural, historic, and pre-historic world. Most likely used for research and as a visual aid for university lectures.
Provenance: the collection originates from Sheffield University's Firth College. Most of the slides can be attributed to Mr JE Atkinson, from the university and several others to Flatters and Garnett. Circa. 1890.
