Description
This Renaissance miniature casket, originating from the Michel Mann workshop in Nuremberg, dates to circa 1589–1630 and carries a provenance from Appleby Castle. The small brass or gilt metal box is intricately engraved across its entire surface with fine floral motifs, scrollwork, and geometric borders. The hinged lid features a centralised, ornate swing handle alongside a top entry keyhole. The front panel incorporates a decorative mock lock plate mechanism, and the whole piece is raised on four small ball feet.
