Description
This antique English Tantalus is a classic "Butler’s Revenge," designed to display spirits while securing them from unauthorized sampling. The solid oak frame is reinforced with white metal mounts likely nickel or silver plate which secure a horizontal locking bar across the stoppers. The set contains three square cut glass decanters, though one is a later replacement, which is common for pieces of this age. The locking mechanism remains functional, with the original key available to release the bar and allow access to the spirits.
