Delightful Mid Victorian parlour dome or diorama. 19th century figural Group of a young man and woman set with a floral backdrop and mound, all under a glass dome and on an ebonised plinth. The Victorians loved to encase objects under glass domes. It was fashionable between 1860-1880 for almost every formal Victorian parlour to have a glass dome bursting full of all kinds of objects, Shells and wax flowers, bisque figures, mechanical objects. The list is endless. In these domes they would often display an event in time either real or imagined.
