Description
A 19th century figured walnut writing box featuring a dome top and line inlay detailing. The piece dates to circa 1860 and showcases the quality of craftsmanship typical of the period. The exterior presents a rich figured walnut grain, enhanced by precise line inlay (some missing). The box opens to reveal a lovely blue lined writing slope and fitted interior. The lid features a gilt stamp which could allow for initials or a metal badge added with an engraved message..
The top comes away for extra storage for secret notes. Some compartments for pens and pencils, ink wells and other stationery pieces. Complete with key - lock requires attention.
