Description

A 19th Century African Zulu knobkerrie or hunting club, carved from dark hardwood and featuring a fluted oblate head with a hide-bound short staff. The piece is finished with decorative wirework collars and measures approximately 32.5 cm in length. This example comes with provenance, having been owned by Mr and Mrs Gardner, who became Quaker missionaries on Pemba Island in 1899.
A characterful ethnographic piece with strong display appeal.
