Lee Enfield No4 mk1 Cruciform Bayonet Bayonet

The Lee Enfield No4 mk1 bayonet was beautifully made with a distinctive cruciform blade. The blade and socket were one single solid casting. Only 75000 of these were made during the end of 1941 and for the first few months of 1942. The only maker was the Singer Manufacturing Co ( the sewing machine people) in Scotland. The main reason was that it was thought that Scotland was safer from German bombing than England. This is the rarest and most collectable bayonet of WW2. Nearly all of these bayonets were used in the dessert campaign against Rommel or at the D Day Normandy landings by such as the commandos. It's relatively certain that they were also the issued bayonet for the ill fated Dieppe raid in 1942 which meant nearly all were lost due to the capture by German occupying forces.
