Rare Paktong Mounted Flintlock Blunderbuss With side sprung bayonet by William Perry. 14.5 inch four stage brass barrel with ring turned flared muzzle, border and scroll engraved signed lock, the side mounted spring bayonet mounted across the lock and secured by the cock in the half position, full stocked with border and scroll engraved paktong mounts, open work side plate, oval escutcheon, carved about the barrel tang with two crossed scimitars surmounting a scalloped feature, brass topped wooden ramrod.
The method of securing the bayonet behind the cock would unusually mean that every time the blunderbuss was discharged the bayonet would immediately deploy. The provision of sling mounts would indicate this is almost certainly a coaching piece.
