Description
A fine cased antique Victorian daguerreotype photographic portrait of a lady. This printing technique was popular in the 1840's and 1850's. They were expensive at the time, and could only be afforded by wealthier people. They came in six different sizes, this is a ninth plate size, 6cm by 5cm image. The image is oval framed in a gilt mount. Opposite the portrait is a dark red embossed velvet panel. It is then presented in a hinged leather outer case with floral embossing and a decorative brass clasp. Dealer Code: 3328.
