Description
A fabulous original hand coloured lithograph taken from the famous John Gould bird books. This image is from 'The Birds of New Guinea' published between 1875 and 1888. John Gould died in 1881, he was about halfway through the 25 parts of this edition. The remainder were completed by Henry Constantine Richter and William Matthew Hart, with some illustrations by Richard Bowdler Sharpe. This image is titled Tanysiptera Nympha, which is a Red-Breasted Paradise Kingfisher. The hand colouring is of the finest quality. The image has been later glazed and framed ready for hanging. Framed size 59.5cm high by 43cm wide. Stock Code: 3756.
