Description

Antique Victorian dated oil painting on ceramic plaque. Depicting a birds nest with eggs amongst a hedgerow with white morning glory flowers and grasses. The painting is signed to the lower right W. Cruikshank and dated 1877. The artist William Cruikshank (1848-1922) was born in Scotland, and studied art at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. He was the great-nephew of George Cruikshank, a caricaturist and book illustrator. The painting is presented in its original gilt frame, glazed and with a gilt oval mount. Image size is 10.5cm high by 13cm wide. Frame size is 19.5cm high by 21.5cm wide. Stock Code: 3720.
