Painting Description: A very large and extremely fine 19th c portrait of a seated gentleman holding a letter. Beautiful brushwork with intricate detailing, housed in its original gallery gilt decorative frame. Signed APPLETON and dated 1873 lower right.
Painting Condition: Very good order for year, Slight impression from the stretcher. Very minor surface marks and a tiny paint chip under the eye (See photos)
Frame Condition: Good order, presentable. However some restoration to the back and side edge to the frame. (Further photos on request)
