Description
Brenda Hartill is an innovative British painter / printmaker based in East Sussex where she has a studio.
Born in London she emigrated to New Zealand with her parents, and returned to England on a Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council scholarship to study at the Central School of Art and Design.
She became involved in theatre design, and after a period lecturing in university theatre in the USA she returned to London to take up a British Arts Council award. She worked for a period at the National Theatre at the Young Vic, and then as a freelance theatre designer including shows for the National Theatre at the Old Vic, the RSC, London's West End
(Criterian Theatre), Traverse Theatre Edinburgh, Theatre Royal York and the Birmingham Rep.
