Description
Engraving, Seat of William James in Colour Side Plan. Depicts Ightham Court, the seat of William James Esq. It is a hand-colored copper engraving created by Johannes Kip and was published in a collection of views of British country houses. Shows a large house with extensive, well-maintained formal gardens. The style of the engraving, known as a "bird's-eye view," was a popular way to depict country estates in the early 18th century.
