Description

A fabulous original antique Victorian watercolour painting of Culzean Castle in Ayrshire by John Mogford (1821-1885). He exhibited at the Royal Academy. This atmospheric image depicts people collecting shellfish on the rocks with boats in the background on a choppy seashore. The castle is situated high up on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It really is a wonderful painting. It is signed by the artist to the lower left. The reverse with handwritten title information, and a gallery label for Abbey Galleries of Westminster. The painting is double window mounted, glazed and gilt framed. Image size 47cm high by 82cm wide. Frame size 74cm high by 107cm wide. Dealer Code: 3363.
