Description

The striking original painted cover artwork by the master illustrator, Pino Dell'Orco, for the Fleetway pocket comic, Air Ace Picture Library #141, published in March 1963. Dell'Orco, celebrated for his dynamic and semi-abstract approach to aviation subjects, captures a tense, high-altitude dogfight between two fighting planes. The scene likely features dramatic movement and extreme perspective, typical of his style, which was highly influential in the British war comic genre of the 1960s. The artwork showcases a clash of overlapping shapes and bold colours against the sky.
