Still Life in Summer Oil Painting by Klaus Clausmeyer 1887-1968.
Signed to the lower left.
Klaus worked and lived in Germany. Klaus Clausmeyer (Klaus Eduard Karl Meyer) is known for his portraits, public scenes, and flower still lifes. He was a German painter and collector born in Munich. He enjoyed great success. The eldest son of genre painter Claus Meyer was already a sought-after portraitist and painter of large-scale social scenes during his lifetime. During the First World War, Clausmeyer decided to collect Buddhist art.
Later, he concentrated his collection on Africa and Oceania. His objects filled every corner of his studio apartment in Düsseldorf. In 1966, he signed a contract transferring his collection to the City of Cologne. The city undertook to scientifically process and publish the collection. The collection was incorporated into the collection of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne. His paintings can be found in many public and private collections around the world.
