Description
The most striking element is the tabletop, which serves as an incredible showcase for Dutch marquetry inlay. It is richly decorated with intricate floral details, birds, and urns, all bordered by a beautiful herringbone inlay. Immediately below the top is the frieze, which houses the first of the two drawers; this drawer is oak lined, inlaid, and fitted with brass handles.
The central portion of the piece features a demi-lune shaped cupboard, its door equally adorned with intricate marquetry details. The cupboard opens to reveal a single interior shelf. Flanking the central cupboard on each side is an inlaid column finished with brass detailed ends. The base of the cabinet incorporates a clever hidden drawer, which is also inlaid and oak-lined. Finally, the piece stands proudly on floral inlaid block feet at the front and bracket feet at the back.
