Description

Rare fine quality pair of Empire Revival ormolu mounted walnut side chairs Circa 1890. Richly embellished with gilt bronze ormolu large central panel depicts seated Goddess being carried by Angels on a decorative garland of flowers and foliage, flanked by putti to each side. Below features a open carved splat panel once again embellished with ormolu detail. Further decorative ormolu mounts to each side and legs. Reupholstered in a traditional manner retaining original horsehair filling to overstuffed seat. Dated 1893 to wooden support within the seat. Height to back of chair: 89.5cm, Height to top of seat: 45cm, Width: 46cm Depth: 39.5cm. Condition is excellent with rich patination to both walnut frame and ormolu mounts.
