Description
The table is constructed using striking amboyna wood edging contrasted beautifully with an ebonised finish. Both rectangular tiers are neatly edged in brass, with the upper tier featuring a protective glass top. The tiers are supported by gilt decorated supports which are united by an ebonised and gilt stretcher below. The entire piece is made portable by being raised on porcelain castors.
Reflecting the principles of the Aesthetic Movement (circa 1860–1900), this table prioritises beauty and refined design over purely functional form, often achieved through the incorporation of exotic woods, strong contrasts, and richly decorative detail. This elegant piece is well suited for modern use as a side or occasional table, for the display of decorative objects, or as a sophisticated serving piece within a sitting or dining room.
