A very rare and fine quality Regency Period Broomwood Games Table with Kingwood Crossbanding, in the manner of George Sanderson, cabinet maker to the Dukes Of Atholl Of Blair Castle, Perthshire, Scotland.
Circa 1810.
The only known examples of broom wood furniture are those in the collection of the Duke Of Atholl Of Blair Castle.
They were famous tree planters and the Third Duke grew broom on his estate.
Perth cabinet maker George Sanderson made a fine bureau cabinet for the Third Duke and there is a suite of furniture made almost entirely of broom in the Derby Dressing Room Of Blair Castle.
