Description

Antique sought after Persian Hadjili Jalili Tabriz. Circa 1890. Rugs from the Hadji Jalili workshop are synonymous for the execution and clarity of design, quality of materials and soft western desired palate not traditional to the Persian market. This piece is currently missing its outer end borders which enable it to be more affordable than most as once these are restored the rug will be worth in excess of £6-7000. The soft terracotta field flanked by multiple borders and showing off a wonderful change in palate from the deep indigo to the softer dark brown shows how the workshop were perhaps using this as a test piece for a much larger carpet as these tend to be. Damage to one end in the corner and missing the outer end borders as mentioned, otherwise in good pile. The design is bursting with accurately drawn flowers and plants. Stunning
