Description
A fine and highly desirable antique art nouveau design and period gold brooch. It was designed by Archibald Knox, famous for his designs for Liberty's. Created as entwined openwork tendrils with a central oval moonstone, with a further entwined moonstone drop. It is made from 15kt gold, which was often used for jewellery made between 1854 and 1931. The reverse with a pin fastener. There are hallmarks to the pin, but they are just too small to read. An example of this brooch appears in the book Archibald Knox (Academy Edition) by Stephen A Martin published in 1995, illustrated on page 254. The brooch is 3cm wide by 3.6cm high.
