A Victorian Brass Bound Mahogany Campaign Writing Box with a leather writing slope and secret drawer. The top with a brass cartouche inscribed 'James Amphlett' father of modern day press.
James Amphlett 1772 -1860 of Shrewsbury. He had been a Journalist for over 60years reporting events in London and throughout the country, styled as 'father of the press'. Obituary in 'The Times'.
