Description

An unusual and rare antique 19th century novelty string box in the form of a windmill. It was made in Germany, and in the style of Mauchline Ware. The Scottish made sycamore novelties were so popular at the time, that Germany copied them to suit there tourist industry. The windmill made in pine, has spinning sails, and a top that opens to the string container. Each sail has a printed image of flowers and foliage. To the body are printed images of Hotel Rosstrappe in Germany and Treseburg am Harz to the opposite side. Stock Code: 3948.
