Description
Original mid 20th Century ashtray in oak by Robert Thompson of Kilburn in North Yorkshire, showing the signature mouse wonderfully carved. A light adzing to the top can also be seen. The Mouseman or Mousey Thompson as he was known, named after saying to his colleague that they would be as poor as a church mouse - I think he ended up being mistaken! A Lovely Early Example. Some old cigarette burns. Good Patina.
