Description

The sterling silver double bottomed case bears the London hallmarks for 1892. The rear is engine turned with a blank cartouche in the middle. The rear cover springs open when the pendant button is pressed. The makers initials are J.J. The case is stamped with the number 18191, the same as the movement number.

The movement is a key wound (key supplied) English full plate Fusee table roller lever. The watch is wound from the rear (anticlockwise), the hands are set from the front. It has a 9ct gold three armed balance. Regulation is via a Bosley type. The movement is signed: Thos. Rainey Belfast 18191

The Movement condition is excellent, the gilding is very bright, with one or two very light marks. The balance, lever pallets, fourth and third wheels are jewelled (11 jewels). Complete with original dust cap. The watch runs well to the end of the chain (greater than 30 hours) and keeps good time.

The dial is off white enamel with Roman numerals and a sunken subsidiary seconds, complete with gold hands. The Dial condition is perfect, there is very slight damage to the minute hand.

The Case condition is good, there are a couple of bumps and a scratch on the rear. The engine turning is a little worn and the coin edge is good. The front bezel snaps shut as it should do, the rear cover does springs open but is a little stiff, the catch and hinges are good.

The crystal is glass and appears to be an original with some slight surface scratches.

Size: 5cm 1.8cm thick. Weight: 123g
