Description
The solid silver case is in good condition with minor wear and a small dent, the back is plain silver with a vacant cartouche in the middle, around the outside of the case is a coined edging which some has worn off over time. All the hinges are in good condition and working well and close nicely with a click. Mineral crystal is also in good condition with little wear or marks on it.
Push the button down on top of the neck and the back spring open, on the inside back cover is the Lion for 925 silver a London hallmark a date letter for 1866 with the case makers mark I. H. (Possibly John Hammon)
The movement is signed G Fowler Horncastle, it also has a movement number 8530 matching the case number which makes them original. Coming complete with its dust cover both being in fantastic very clean condition.
The movement is a Key wound and set fusee cone which is chain driven lever escapement 4 round pillars which the full plate sits on a patterned balance cock and diamond end stone and a steel balance wheel. With the full length of its wind it keeps good time.
The dial is white enamel with black roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at 6 o'clock, it has no chips hairlines or staining which looks amazing for its age.
All the hands appear original they are gold in colour with the sub dial in black replacement.
What a handsome Gentlemen’s heavy Pocket watch at 53.6mm in diameter without he neck and 20.7mm thick with the glass.
