RAF Hemswell Memorial Day 2019 - Armistice Day

This years RAF Hemswell Day will be a Joint Service incorporating Remembrance Day on 11th November 2019

The event is held at the heart of RAF Hemswell.
The Station Memorial at the site of the former Parade Ground.

The Memorial was erected in 1995 to commemorate all who served at RAF Hemswell from 1937 to 1967 during its 30-year life as a major RAF Bomber Command Station.

The memorial was unveiled in September 1995 by the late Mrs Kath Edgson of Horncastle, sister of Ronald Herd, one of the sixteen young RAF men killed in action on 29 September 1939, the first of RAF Hemswell’s many loses during World War 2.

The Remembrance and RAF Hemswell Day service will start at Hemswell Cliff Primary School at 10am,
where there will be a short Remembrance service and then RAF Hemswell Association prize giving.

After this the children will walk to the Memorial at the Parade Ground to lay flowers. We expect this to be approx 11am. Squadron wreaths will also be laid and a short service. All are Welcome.
