Late 19th early 20th century Staffordshire spaniel/walley dog. White ground. Brown nose. grey feet. Padlock and chain. Hole to back. Height 31cms. Made in The Potteries, Staffordshire, England. It was very fashionable for pairs of spaniels, also called walley dogs to be placed on the mantle piece of C19th& C20th homes. Spaniels were a favourite due to their connection with English Royal family, especially Queen Victoria. Each pair is hand painted and unique, with a range of facial expressions from happy to ferocious. They have become very collectable over the years. Absolutely irresistible. Mark to back.
