19th Century Chinese Watercolour on pith paper of Chinese man wearing a white jacket. Accomplished and delicately painted. Europeans while travelling in China in the 19th Century would collect small watercolour paintings showing Chinese everyday activities These would be painted on ‘pith’ paper which is made from the inner pith of a shrub called Tetrapanex papyrifera, native to S China and Taiwan. Height 20.5cms x Width 15.5cms Plastic frame. Please note the condition: Sold as seen. The frame is plastic.
