Contact us about 19th Century Staffordshire Flatback Figure Man Wearing Breeches with Musket

19th century Victorian flatback of a man wearing breeches with musket and pistols. Hand painted details. Staffordshire pottery figures were made from the 1800s. Most being manufactured before 1900. They were almost exclusively made in small potteries where identifying makers’ marks were absent. Now collectively described as Staffordshire Figures from the Potteries, Staffordshire, England (although some were made in other parts of the country). Early figures were made in stoneware. Expensive ones in porcelain. But as the 19th century progressed and their popularity increased they were generally made in pottery for the cheaper mass market. Superficial wear to paint. Crazed. Good, sound condition. Small amount of age-related wear consistent with use. Please view the photographs carefully as these form part of the description. If you require any extra photos or a condition report, please do not hesitate to contact the team
