Contact us about 19th Century Staffordshire Pottery Figures with a Clock

19th century Staffordshire flatback pottery figures with clock. Hand painted Staffordshire pottery figures were made from the 1800s. Most being manufactured before 1900. They were almost exclusively made in small potteries where identifying makers’ marks were absent. Now described as Staffordshire Figures from the Potteries in Staffordshire, England (although some were made in other parts of the country). Early figures were made in stoneware. Expensive ones in porcelain. But as the19th century progressed and their popularity increased they were generally made in pottery for the cheaper mass market. They often reflected the culture of the time, notorious characters, events in history, the fashion or fashionable people etc. Some age related crazing and wear to paint. A few minor cracks. Sound construction. Some age-related wear consistent with use. Please view the photographs carefully as these form part of the description. If you require any extra photos or a condition report, please do not hesitate to contact the team. Located in Building 1. Dealer 1235.
