A fabulous quality antique 19th century carved ebony mirror made in Florence Italy by well known ebonist Andrea Picchi. He was born in Florence in 1823 and carved ebony frames for aritocratic clients. This mirror has carved decoration to the outer and inner frame. Surrounding the frame are eight hardstone cabochons with eight gilt metal mounts. The outer edge with further decorative gilt metal mounts adorned with a cherub face. The top mount with a loop for hanging. Andrea Picchi exhibited an amazing ebony and ivory carved cabinet at the Paris Exhibition of 1867. It was described as a jewel of master carving. He worked from Via Maggio, No. 28, Florence. The reverse of the mirror still retains part of an old paper label for Andrea Picchi. Stock Code: 2082.
