Contact us about Antique Kashmiri Silver Kashkul
An exquisite antique kashkul from Srinagar, Kashmir, crafted from silver circa 1890. The kashkul, or 'begging bowl', is an iconic object traditionally carried by wandering Sufi dervishes. This piece, however, was likely created for the British colonial export market, showcasing the masterful artistry of Kashmiri silversmiths. The bowl features the soft, densely packed chased and repoussé decoration characteristic of Kashmiri work. The intricate decoration is often inspired by the natural beauty of the region.
