A good oil on board painting of two Clowns frolicking at twilight. Mary (Alice) Fitzpayne (b.1928). Born in Catterick, scholarship Leeds and Central School of Art & Design. Known for painting clowns and homeless people. Works seen in the British Museum, solo exhibition at the Usher Art Gallery 1983 and 1989 in Lincoln and in 1988 at Blackfriars Art Gallery. A large, unframed painting with clowned wearing turquoise velvet outfits, holding a masquerade and ribbon, sat in front of the orange evening sun sky. Signed and artist’s address label.
